We are proud to announce the first recipient of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship! The scholarship in 2020 was awarded to Connor Strong.
Connor Strong graduated from Mount Saint Joseph High School where he spent his four year academic and wrestling career. He served as a captain on the varsity wrestling team his Junior and Senior year. While wrestling for the Gaels, Strong was a 4x MIAA Conference Finalist and 3x champion. He was also a 4x MIS State Finalist and 2x champion. Strong was a 3x All-American at National Preps and a Beast of the East and Ironman All-American.
Academically, Strong was a honor roll student and achieved the Principal’s list three times. He earned a 4.53 GPA his senior year and was enrolled in two AP classes. Strong was also a member of the Social Media Ambassador club and the Leadership Club.
Connor Strong will be attending the University of Pennsylvania where he will continue his academic and wrestling career. He plans to major in Economics.
We are proud to announce the second recipient of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship! The scholarship in 2022 was awarded to Devin Boger.
Devin Boger has been wrestling for 2 years , 4th in Baltimore , and he reached regionals semifinals. Devin wrestled his sophomore year for Pikesville then his senior year for Catonsville high. Catonsville was a great experience and Devin learned how to be a great leader and an even better wrestler. Devin says he learned it is not about how many years you have wrestled or your accolades, it is the heart you put into it and the ambition and drive you put out for yourself to get the win every time.
Devin is attending Morgan State in Maryland where he will continue to wrestle.
We are proud to announce that Justin Knapp is a 2022 recipient of the Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship!
Justin has been wrestling since he was four years old and his dedication and passion for the sport led him to an impressive high school record of 107-14. He was a three time Maryland State placer, two time Regional Champion, two-time Anne Arundel County Champion and a one time County runner-up. Justin also earned first team all county accolades, three times.
Beyond his wrestling accolades, Justin is also a committed student-athlete who excels in the classroom. He is a graduate of Southern High School and attends Belmont Abbey College, where he plans to major in business.
The Youngblood Eveleth Memorial Foundation is proud to award the scholarship to such a deserving individual as Chase Listorti.
Chase Listorti, a graduate of Chesapeake High School, is the recipient of the 2022 Dan Youngblood Wrestling Scholarship. With a remarkable career record of 132-16, including an impressive 79 pins, Chase was a three year varsity letter winner in wrestling. He achieved numerous accolades throughout his high school career, including two-time county placer, three-time region placer, two region championships, and the ultimate achievement of being crowned State Champion in 2022.
Despite his busy athletic schedule, Chase maintained an excellent academic record, which speaks volumes about his dedication and time management skills. Chase's passion for academics is evident in his choice of major, as he is pursuing a degree in Biochemistry at McDaniel College.
Owen Bell is a graduate of Hereford High School. With a career record of 114-10, despite his sophomore year season being cancelled by COVID. Owen was a 3 year Captain for the Bulls and was a 3x Baltimore County Champion and 3x Regional Champion in as many tries. Owen placed 4th in the state his junior year and capped off his career with a 42-0 senior season that concluded with him going unscored upon in the state tournament to become a State Champion in 2022. Owen was also a 3x MSWA State Champion in both Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling. In addition to his on the mat accolades, Owen was named NHSCA Academic All American in 2023 and was twice named to the MSWA All Academic Team. Owen maintained a 4.79 weighted GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society. Owen will be attending Bucknell University in the Fall where he will wrestle and pursue a dual degree in Civil Engineering and Management.
